I returned to Rio for the second time and stayed in the same hotel as before. L’Homme de Rio. This time on arrival I was blessed with blue sky.
I had 2 goals this time round. Number 1 handgliding! I got picked up at 0800 and driven to the handgliding club around 20 minutes from my hotel.
Due to the lack of tourists I was the only one going up to take part. Normally the group size is around 12. We hopped in this cool little car and drove 20 minutes up to the hill top.
When we arrived there was a cloud in front of us so you couldn’t see the view. This made it alot easier to run off the top.
Once we were air born the view became clear it was incredible. It was such an adrenaline fix all the way down to the beach.
We were done by 10am so I spent the rest of the day chilling on Copacobana beach drinking from coconuts. The weather was on point.
The next day was time for goal number 2! The famous Christ the redeemer statue. When I woke up I was greeted by a cloudy sky. I couldn’t even see the sugarloaf mountain from my balcony. I was gutted, I really didn’t think I was going to see the statue.
We took the cog train up the mountain which took around 25 minutes and cost 17€ return. We went up into the clouds.
On arrival this was my view. I was feeling a bit annoyed that mother nature was messing me around.
After around 10-15 minutes the miracle happened! The wind blew and the statute was revealed it was such an amazing experience.
The whole crowd was cheering and we got this amazing view of Rio de Janerio.
After I went down to the Parque Lage with its Instagram famous arts school.
Then took a stroll round the 7km lagoon before heading back to my hotel for some time around the pool.
Rio de Janeiro is probably one of my top 3 cities I’ve travelled to in the world. It has so much to offer I would definitely say check it out if you get the chance.
On the last day I was up at 5am to catch my flight to Curitiba when I looked out of my balcony doors I was met by this amazing sunrise. The perfect end.
